My 95-year-old grandmother, Margaret Troolin Anderson Peterson, gave me her recipe boxes a few years ago. She ran the Bethel College (Minnesota) coffee shop for years and was a professional caterer. Sauce for Apple Dumplings
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
add some water to this mixture
salt
vanilla
